Speaking of the Scandinavian countries, the way of life of people in these countries, their traditions and customs, it seems that a style of improving an apartment and a house in their dwellings stretches from ancient times. However, as it turned out, the so-called Scandinavian style, as a trend in the interior design, has appeared relatively recently − around the end of the XIX century and became widespread only after several decades − in the middle of the twentieth century.

The emergence of this style, in fact, is not surprising. Rather, it appears not because of the whimsy of designers. But from the need of owners of the apartments and the houses to equip their dwellings as comfortable and cozy maximally, in order to the cold, northern air did not penetrate into the rooms and, at the same time, settled on the hearts of these owners heavily. Therefore, the improving of apartments or studio rooms, such as living (front) room in the Scandinavian style (photos which you can see below) using all methods and tools to ensure the comfort and convenience of not only the owners, but also the guests who came to these dwellings.

What Features Are Typical for Scandinavian Style?

Among the features that it would like to highlight in the Scandinavian style, it is worth noting a few details:

Firstly, the main idea of such design approach is to use a minimum amount of furniture since it allows concentrating more air and sunlight in the living room that fills it thereby freshness and easiness.
Secondly, the lack of natural light in the front room should be compensated by artificial light, which should be plenty. A punch line of the Scandinavian style of the living room is using of ethnic elements of furniture, decor and other accessories. At the same time, there should not be these accessories too much. And, of course, the Scandinavian style used only the natural materials in the design − no plastic, foam or such like.

Whitish, close to white, shades are dominated in the design of the living room in the Scandinavian style (or in any other premises in the same direction). Among such colors can be prevailed not only the white color, but also milk or cream, beige, and so on. Diluted these colors by neutral shades − for example, pale or gray-blue, light green tint or wheat color and so on.
