Furniture design, in particular beds has been popular not only now, but in the past. Thus, there are (existed, and exist) canopy beds, which have always been a symbol of the greatness and high status of their owners. Typically, the courtiers' men and ladies had such beds, and only they themselves knew previously, what are their advantages. But everything has changed now, and a posted bed became available to almost each one of us. In addition, there is now a huge number of styling and variation of such beds. Let us take a closer look to the fact that they, after all, are representing these beds with a canopy?

Facts about Posted Bed

If properly delve into the history, the canopy top beds (or the canopy beds) are appeared not by a mere chance. This construction has the very effective features, including:

- unavailability of penetration a sunlight "inside" of the bed;
- protection from drafts and cold;
- a good defense against insects.

In some cases, such bed became the only place where you can safely retire from prying eyes.

Time is passing, and with the appearance of four-poster bed, it became constantly evolve, both structurally and functionally. For the most part, it had a big wooden overhang in which various patterns and shapes can be drawn. Tent-shaped draperies can be fixed as on this overhang, and on the top beams.

It is interesting that with the advent of the Renaissance this bed somewhat changed and in its design has appeared a high headboard. This was due to the fact that in the noble families and dwellings the guests were welcomed just lying on the bed. So, this bed was situated at a considerable height from the lower floor and had a notorious headboard. Thus, it was convenient for the owner to meet and entertain his guests. Directly above the berth located the rectangular frames, culminating in a cornice. On which, in turn, the drapes were attached. This allowed making such bed not just a place to rest, but a kind of likeness of the throne.

With the advent and spread of the Baroque style, the bed with canopy has undergone a few changes. Thus, the canopy began to lose its popularity, and it began to replace the stylized decor. A hip frame of the bed began to drape of chic and expensive at those times fabrics − silk and velvet, damask and so on. But the canopy is not moved away from this style in the past, on the contrary, it was transfigured, becoming at the same time more accurate and extended, and heavy drapes were replaced by light curtains.

Initial canopies and overhangs returned only in our time. This was done with the purpose of enthusiasm and returning of the interior style of those times, to feel how people slept in these beds before, and indeed, to emphasize the special role of this kind of bed. If you own it, or want to become such, you have to decide whether you need a massive four-poster bed or a lightweight design in the Baroque style. It can be such a structure out of the light wooden or metal frames with a weightless fabric composition and an air tent canopy. If you want to buy two beds at once, not necessarily that they were just the same, it is the matter of purely individual taste.
